How can volunteers help?

In the lunchroom, you can do the following to help:

  • Always encourage students to follow the Grizzly Way: Ready to Learn, Safe Each Day and Kind To All!  Give students golden lunchroom paw-sitives when they are doing the right thing in the lunchroom!  Paw-sitives can be earned for things like staying seated, waiting quietly, picking up trash, etc.
  • Remind students to stay in their seats until they are dismissed, by table, to lunch.
  • Allow students to use the bathroom passes to go to the bathroom during lunch, 1 student at a time.
  • Help students open lunch packages – prompt them to raise their hands and ask for help.
  • Report any difficulties to a staff member.

At recess, you can do the following to help:

  • Teach students to play organized games at recess!
  • Monitor soccer out on the field.  Should be no-contact.
  • Monitor basketball.  Should be no-contact.
  • Make sure students are following the rules of the games during recess.
  • Stop any students you see that are being physical with each other – students need to keep hands to self.
  • Help students solve conflicts with peers at recess.
  • Report any difficulties to a staff member.
